Frequently Asked Questions

What is an ISP (Internet Service Provider)?

In order to take advantage of what the internet has to offer, you must first "get connected" to the Internet via an Internet Service Provider (ISP). Similar to phone companies, ISPs charge to use their lines. You can expect to pay between $5-26 per month depending on the amount of time you need to use the lines.

Choosing the "right" ISP can save you time, money and alot of aggrevation. We strongly urge you to ask for recommendations from friends, associates, computer stores, and universities.

How will the Internet help my business?

Since your web site never closes, clients and prospective clients are free to order when it's convenient to them... no busy signals... no telephone tag... and most importantly... no dissatisfied customers.

Web Sites present your products and/or services at a fraction of the cost of traditional print methods. When printing your marketing materials, you buy in bulk. You have to be sure that the printed information is correct and stays the same for as long as your printed materials are still in stock. Mistakes or changes are costly. With a web page, updating, editing and changing are immediate and cost effective, there is no waste... there is no time delay... there is no self-recrimination. As an added bonus, if you decide that you do want some printed materials, your web page will let you know whether your material is effective before you spend the money on printed marketing materials. If potential clients do not contact you from your web materials, why would they contact you from your printed materials?

What is Web Hosting?

Once the Web site creation is complete, the site needs to reside on a computer that maintains a constant connection to the Internet. This type of computer is called a server, because it serves, or delivers, the Web site information to Internet surfers who visit the company's site. This function of holding the Web site's information and making it accessible to Internet visitors is called Hosting.

Some organizations' Web addresses match their organization's name. What does this mean?

There is one database service company in the World that is permitted to register and maintain Web addresses. This company, InterNIC, allows the assignment of a Web address name to only one organization. This Web address, or domain name, such as, www.webbedfeet.org, is similar to a postal address. It provides a uniform method of directing information on the Internet.

How do I know if a Web site will benefit my company or organization?

Virtually every business or organization can benefit from an online presence. Whether you are in retail sales and would like to display and sell your products via the Web, or you want to spread the word about your service related business, a Web site can facilitate your goals. Furthermore, businesses are not the only organizations to benefit from the Web. An Internet presence is equally beneficial for non-profit organizations who would like to communicate their information and increase awareness of their cause.

How do visitors/customers to my Web site contact me?

Since the primary purpose of a Web site is to increase communication and to develop new contacts, it is important to emphasize contact from the site. There are numerous ways to achieve this goal:

  • Email Links: by clicking on an email link, either text or a graphic, the surfer's email program will be started and an electronic message will be sent directly to your email box.

  • Contact Forms: Webbed Feet can integrate contact forms into your site that will encourage Internet communication. These forms can contain any field/blank that a client desires.

  • Non-Internet Communication: Information such as, phone numbers, fax numbers, toll free numbers, and postal addresses, can be emphasized on your Web site.

How do my current customers and clients find out about my web site?

Simply creating a good looking Web site is not enough! The site must be actively promoted to be affective. Webbed Feet works diligently with our clients to help them promote their Web site and integrate their Internet presence into their advertising campaigns.

Can my business or organization start with a small Web site and later expand to a larger Web site? Or must I start all over when wanting to enlarge the site?

Many businesses and organizations want to test the water first. In fact, we encourage it. If you are unsure about a step, then it should be carefully planned before moving ahead. Starting with a small Web site is frequently the way to begin. One of the best attributes of publishing on the Internet is the ability to upgrade a site without starting over. If a printed brochure needs to be updated or modified, then the owner must totally reprint. With the Web, a site owner is able to update only the area(s) that needs change, without starting over. This is clearly a cost saver!

I do not like my current web site. Is it possible to change it at a reasonable price and get the site I want?

Yes, Webbed Feet will work with you to redesign your current Web site to meet your expectations, and at a cost-effective price. We do not hard sell our clients or prospective clients to create a Web site that is more involved than their need.

Is having a Web site as cost effective as other advertising mediums?

With mediums, such as television, radio, or newspaper, once your advertisement runs for a particular day or time slot, the ad and all the money invested is used. With a Web site, once the creation is complete, the site remains available online, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, until removed. The only cost for the continuing the site is the hosting, (which costs about $20 per month for most sites).

I still have questions, can I contact Webbed Feet for more answers?

Webbed Feet is extremely customer service oriented. We welcome contact from our Web visitors, clients, and prospective clients by the following methods:
